Approach to therapy
At Southeastern Physical Therapy, our approach to care centers around taking a total body, whole person approach to examination and treatment. We recognize that our body is a part of many integrated and interdependent systems working together. For example, our musculoskeletal, neurological, emotional, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems, to name a few, all work together influencing how we move and feel. Similarly, if we look more specifically at our musculoskeletal system we know that one region of our body affects both local and distant regions alike. For example, dysfunction in the upper cervical spine can drive pain and dysfunction in the lumbar spine. Likewise, problems in lumbosacral region can drive dysfunction in the cervical spine. We also find that it is not uncommon for the spine to cause pain and dysfunction in the shoulders, hips, knees, and feet as well. So, when one region of our body becomes dysfunctional, whether it is painful or not, it can cause pain and dysfunction in other areas of the body. We cannot forget that we also interact with the environment in which we live. If we are not interacting well with our environment because of suboptimal postures and ergonomics we can expect to develop dysfunctional movement patterns that can lead to pain and injuries. You can be sure that we will address all of those interactions and develop a plan to fully address your goals so can you move better, feel better, and live better.
We understand that it can be difficult choosing the right therapy. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about how we can help you please feel free to contact us. We look forward to getting to know you.
